The Minister of Health and Social Policy, Catherine Lawrence, said today that the "residential complex of El Palmar is an example of the developments in recent years in the dependency care and the effort made to provide dependent quality services focused on the integration and promotion of personal autonomy. "
Lorenzo made the remarks during his visit to the residential complex of the municipality of Murcia, which was accompanied by the managing director of Murcia Institute of Social Action (IMAS), Leopoldo Navarro, and by professionals and users of each of these centers .
So, I had a meeting with all those involved in the daily work carried out in Residence for the Elderly 'Bishop Azagra' and 'Virgin of the Valley' and those of the Residence for Persons with Disabilities 'Luis Valenciano' and Julio Ambit ', as well as the Occupational Center' El Palmar '.
At these centers, dependent IMAS, there 547 professionals serving a total of 508 people.
Thus, it provides daily comprehensive and multidisciplinary care through consultations of Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy, among others, and with the support of assistants and social workers, among others.
The Minister appreciated the professional work of all humanitarian and vocational and to provide the most vulnerable groups, including those who are older and dependent care based on quality and affectivity to avoid sitting alone look.
He noted that "although all these centers have a common philosophy, each has a specific focus, depending on the profile of users offering their services, and therefore in each different programs and activities are conducted" .
Residential complex 'El Palmar'
The Ministry of Health and Social Policy, through the Instituto Murciano Social Action, annually invests more than EUR 25 million to keep the five centers that make up the residential complex of El Palmar.
During his visit, the Minister of Health and Social Policy found and highlighted the efforts of the regional government in recent years to provide the complex with modern infrastructure and which, he said, "some of these buildings were very old."
Lorenzo recalled that the regional government launched in 2010 the Residence for the Elderly 'Virgen del Valle' which has, at present, with 100 users and is "a big project" of psychogeriatric care for elderly dependents.
The Minister concluded that "the biggest and dependents are a priority for the regional government and we must continue to invest in services to offer and bring these people and their families with services tailored to your needs and contribute to the reconciliation of work and family life ".
