Full Council unanimously approved to claim a new animal protection law (24/04/2014)

Murcia UPyD initiative backed by other political formations aims primarily to encourage the Council of Social Cooperation under the Ministry of Presidency, "so urgently processed the necessary actions for a new law to protect and defend the Pets'

The full City Council has proposed Union Progress and Democracy, agreed unanimously to urge the Council of Social Cooperation under the Ministry of Presidency, "so urgently processed the necessary actions for a new law to protect and defend the pets ".

As Councilman UPyD Murcia, José Antonio Sotomayor says must be replaced once the 1990 Act applicable to "totally outdated, update penalties and toughen penalties for animal abuse and neglect."

For Sotomayor "is chilling that every two minutes a pet in Spain is abandoned."

According to the FAPAM (Federation of Animal Protection Associations), plus 300,000 pets are "evicted" from their homes every year, "all a sad record at European level."
