Miguel Angel House also participates in a forum at the University of Cauca
The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, has been honored by the Council of the Municipality of Popayan (Colombia) with the appointment of Guest of Honor and the delivery of the keys to the city for his role as the Official Town Crier payanesa Easter.
The Proclamation will be held on Thursday at the Church of Santo Domingo.
The processions of Holy Week in Popayán was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in September 2009 and declared Cultural Patrimony of the Nation in 2004.
These celebrations are regarded as the oldest and most prominent in Latin America and documented since 1556.
The Council President, Alejandro Constaín, on behalf of the corporation thanked Mayor House involvement in the upcoming celebrations and praised Murcia Easter.
The Mayor was received by the Corporation in plenary, as well as members of the Pro Easter, maximum cofrade body Bogota.
Miguel Angel House, as usual, will be in charge of opening the processions carrying the banner of Popayan Parade Lady of Sorrows, patroness of the Colombian city.
During his speech thanked the Mayor House, on behalf of all Murcia, recognition of Popayan authorities have made to Easter Murcia and close relationship, in this matter, keeping both cities.
In addition, during the act concerns and proposals exchanged with the Colombian Corporation, whose councilors were interested in Murcia develops policies on mobility and accessibility, tourism and industry and sports.
During the day, the Mayor House will also participate in a meeting with various authorities and professors from the University of Cauca.
