The Association of Civil Protection Volunteers Hall has created the Emotional and Psychological First Aid (UPAP) to perform psychological first aid in everyday emergencies, disasters and public emergency situations that require you to activate the Emergency Plan Municipal.
The main objectives of this team are:
- Provide emotional support care using specific techniques and communication skills both victims and survivors.
- Provide psychological support through emotional venting techniques.
- Perform psychological first aid on the spot because it is proven that people who have received counseling immediately after a traumatic event show a better adjustment and coping ability, so it is concluded that psychological treatment in an Emergency Department and Emergency contributes to the mitigation of subsequent psychopathology.

The protocol is activated when the event requiring emergency psychological assistance in potentially traumatic situations by high emotional impact that may have on involved, family members or witnesses.
These cases can be deaths or serious injuries in accidents of all types and or domestic violence, suicide, homicide or murder, child victims, sexual abuse or harassment assault, kidnapping or illegal detention and damages, including
This unit, consisting of a driver, a psychologist and an assistant coach, will intervene whenever required by the Health Unit of Civil Protection Guard, Local Police or Fire.
The response time will be, depending on circumstances, 10 to 15 minutes on call situation (Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 21 hours) and 60 to 90 minutes the rest of the week.
The full team is composed by a Unit Head, a Head of Section, psychologists (5), family counselors (1), technicians trained in this task (8) lines (5) and nurses (3).
