2014 is the year of the centenary of the birth of photographer Juan López Murcia and want to pay tribute to an exhibition at the Las Claras Cultural Center, organized by the City and Cajamurcia Foundation.

Photographs 1939-1965 'welcomes 120 photographs of the municipality of Murcia and conducted between 1939 and 1965, of the 200,000 negatives that are preserved in the Municipal Archives of Murcia, some cameras of the era newspaper front pages and illustrated with pictures of Lopez and starring himself as photographs.
Besides knowing the images that is considered a precursor of photojournalism in Murcia, the exhibition provides an insight into the history of the town, its evolution, experienced urban transformation, the characters of that era ...
The photographs, which since May 1995 are part of the funds of the Municipal Archive of Murcia, are of great historical value because only images of that time remain.
Juan López chamber was present in all cultural, political and social events for much of the second half of the twentieth century, which sought always translate on the principle of honesty that projected in his career.
He was also master of a whole generation of filmmakers of the city of Murcia from the 50s to the 80s of last century.
His professional work spanned over half a century, specifically the decade between 30 and 80, although it will be after the Civil War when the task reaches a remarkable extent.
From 1933 to 1936 worked at La Verdad de Murcia and, after the war, he joined the line newspaper, in which he developed his career until 1983, when the newspaper closed its doors.
He also shared his work with the weekly sheet Monday, in addition to covering news as a correspondent for Brand, ABC, Ya or Efe Agency, among other means.
Alongside his journalistic career, he made his photographic work in different stores-laboratory took first in the street González Leader and then in Tatters.
In the latter, the property known photos López remained open for over 40 years, until 1985, when John retires, become a social reference and a school of photographic art.
The exhibition, which opens tomorrow at 20 am, will be open until April 30, Monday to Saturday, from 11 to 14 and from 18 to 21 hours, and on Sundays and holidays from 11 to 14 hours.
