The CEO of the Murcia Seniors Social Welfare Institute (IMAS), Enrique Perez Abellan, today highlighted the work of the congregation made the Servants of Jesus in caring for elderly dependents, through the Holy Josefa Day Centre, located in the center of the city of Murcia.
The center, which opened in 2004, has accredited a total of 34 seats, of which 25 are public, supported with funds from IMAS, which this year allocated 262,500 euros to this service day stays for older people at dependency.
The remaining nine seats are private.
This therapeutic service and sociocultural basic personal needs of older persons affected by different degrees of dependency, in order to improve or maintain the best possible level of personal autonomy and support to families and caregivers of these people are met.
The Day Centre St. Josefa has an interdisciplinary team of professionals, including nursing assistants, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists and also provides transportation.
Throughout the day, users are engaged in play therapy, occupational therapy and crafts, among others, in order to slow the cognitive decline and prevent social isolation.
The IMAS has 944 public places in day center for older people throughout the region, of which 160 are located in the town of Murcia.
