A doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Sport Sciences, University of Murcia has won a number of conclusions after analyzing more than 53,000 shares of play in men's volleyball matches, which can be useful for a better performance in competitions .

To conduct this research, the author, Antonio Alcaraz Garcia Serrano, studied a sample of 53,648 shares game made by nearly a thousand players from different competition categories, as U-14, U-16 and senior national.

The variables analyzed were the category of competition and performance of each action and game phase, yielding significant changes in the technical and tactical performance of actions and phases of play between the different categories of competition.

"As we advance in this category indicates the PhD, an increase in the speed of attacking play from the significant increase in the frequency of use and the performance of rapid spikes occurs."

For the author, "this could be related to the significant performance improvement in reception, which occurs regardless of the form of a clear long run."

The study notes, moreover, that "when computers built by slow attack offensive operations, the performance of the defensive actions increases, thus blocking actions in defense field and improve their performance to auction third time."

For the new doctor, "the data of this thesis can provide guidance for setting objectives and designing training tasks in line with the requirements of the competition and the development of players and teams."

The work, which was led by professors from the University of Murcia and Jose Enrique Ortega Toro Andres Manuel Palao has obtained excellent cum laude.
