The Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) continues to celebrate until tomorrow Multidisciplinary Congress 'The Edict of Milan: 1700 Years of Home Religious Freedom for Christians'.
The symposium, which takes place in the Temple of Jeronimos, today focuses on the Edict of Milan from the legal, philosophical and theological.
On the second day there have been various panels related to the Edict of Milan, the faith and religious freedom in the Western historical and legal context, and presentations related to the theological and philosophical thought during this historic event.
Significantly, the Roundtable on Faith and religious freedom in the Western historical legal field by the director of the Legal Service of the Episcopal Conference, Silverio Nieto, who explained that "history knows various forms of church-state relationship from the confessional state through theocracies, absolute separation from the Church, secular states ... ".
Nieto has stated that "what prevails today in most constitutions, particularly in Europe, is the secular state, ie, a separation between church and state, but at the same time, cooperation between the State and the Church, since religion what it claims is the general good and the common good of the citizens. "
Among the experts who participated in the morning session include, by the UCAM, Professor Desiderio Grill, as well as Professor of Law at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, Matteo Nacci.
This afternoon at 16.00, several related papers, among other issues, with the Edict of Milan in the light of the theology of history, and the persecuted Christians in the Modern World will take place.
Professor José M ª Sesé UCAM, Professor of Metaphysics at the University of Murcia, Alfonso García Marqués, and the honorary president of the University CEU Abat Oliva (Barcelona), taught lectures paths.
