The University of Murcia presented today at the Chancellor Center for European Studies (CEEUM) to promote research and teaching on European Union.
As stated by its director, Professor Klaus Johannes Schriewer the CEEUM wants to contribute to a greater awareness of the importance of the EU for citizens.
Also, in the words of Professor, the Centre, through publications, conferences and other activities, will respond to the social demand for information about the EU and the functioning of their bodies.
Among his first actions is the publication of a training manual for secondary students, which is distributed for free in the institutes of the region.
It has also launched the publication of a collection of books on European studies, with the first work that addresses the fisheries policy in different European countries.
The Minister of Education, University and Employment, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, stressed that the Center is further evidence of the long history of commitment to the internationalization of the University of Murcia.
As a sign of support from the university internationalization, Pedro Antonio Sánchez has said granting the Jean Monnet Chair at the educational institution, the activities of the Office for European Projects (operum) and the work of publication and dissemination about University.
During the course of the event, spoke the head of the Representation of the European Commission in Spain, Francisco Fonseca, who has referred to the importance of the forthcoming European elections to make further progress in political integration.
The rector, José Antonio Cobacho, closed the ceremony and noted that the University of Murcia joins the group of institutions (Complutense of Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Salamanca) with such centers.
