style = "text-align: justify"> 9,863 students from 137 schools in the municipality have participated in the new edition of the "Sustainable City Murcia 2014", which this year has a new record of participation.
The event, organized by the Municipality of Murcia, from the Department of Urban Cleaning and Waste Management, and Cespa Urban Services, invites students in 3rd to 6th grade, aged between 8 and 12 years, to draw their ideas and suggestions about how, according to them, it is possible to get a town more carefully.
Some of their suggestions are known for all-use bins to separate waste for recycling in homes, carrying rubbish to the appropriate containers at the set time, etc .... - but others are more novel, the result of the imagination of school (such as decorating the bins to be more fun, inventions to collect waste, installing traffic lights in containers, etc.).
The Mayor today presented awards to the winners at a ceremony held at the Plenary Hall who also attended the council of Urban Cleaning and Waste Management, Jose Ros, Education, Lola Sanchez and Safety and Human Resources Nuria Fuentes, along with Antonio Igualada, director of Urban Services Cespa of Murcia.
All submissions will be exhibited from 16 to 21 December at the Glorieta and the 13 winners have been used to produce the 2014 calendar of the Department of Urban Cleaning.
The "Sustainable City Murcia" ends which develops throughout the year through the organization of lectures, games and visits to the Center for Urban Waste Treatment Cañada Hermosa school campaign.
The program aims to promote awareness and sensitivity of school on matters related to urban sanitation, waste recycling and the environment.
The winners have been rewarded with a framed drawing tablet and while their schools have been given a set of recycling.
