The Rector of the University of Murcia has been the scene of the presentation of the Public Research Institute on Social Welfare Policy (Polibienestar), University of Valencia, with the collaboration of the research group "Sociology of Welfare and Aging" of Murcia institution.
Polibienestar director, Jorge Garcés, professor at the University of Valencia, explained that the Institute is characterized by the study of social phenomena from a multidisciplinary approach, which combines the social sciences and techniques and integrated areas such as medicine, psychology, economics, law and teaching.
Among the research areas of the Institute, which has units attached to several Spanish universities, including the aforementioned group at the University of Murcia, include the prevention of violence in childhood and adolescence, accessible social tourism, sport and social integration of immigrants or psychoeducational intervention in children with chronic diseases, among others.
In the act have been present, in addition to Professor Garcés, the Vice Chancellor for Research and Internationalisation, Gaspar Ros, the principal investigator of the group "Sociology of Welfare and Aging", Pedro Sanchez Vera, and the director of the Institute on Aging at the University Murcia, Maria Pia Lopez Jornet.
