New activities Cathedral Museum for November (08/11/2013)

"Music in the Cathedral" is the focus of thematic visits, for the month of November, organized by the Museum of the Cathedral of Murcia.

An opportunity to visit the Cathedral spaces dedicated to singing, musical iconography and meet the huge books for the choir, and see up close the impressive body Merklin.

These are some of the possibilities offered by these visits in Santa Cecilia, patroness of music.

The visits, which began last Saturday, will be held on 9, 16 and 23 November.

Piece of the month, already discussed in the Cathedral Museum, is attributed to Gaspar Lleó Goblet, engraved and embossed silver eighteenth century (c. 1720-1725) from St. James Parish Lorquí.

The iconography of this cup revolves around the Eucharist and weapons of the Passion, a very interesting piece also having the ability to contemplate with another cup which is preserved in the Museum of the Cathedral of the same author, but this one in silver gilt .

In addition, an extraordinary, at the conference of November 20, which will focus on baroque silverware Cordoba will expose a Chalice Baroque Augustinian Convent of Murcia, a copy of Damian Castro, along with various pieces of silverware Cordoba.

Jesus Rivas Carmona, Professor of Art History at the University of Murcia, will be entitled "Mysterium fidei. Iconographic ornamentation in baroque chalices. A copy of Damian de Castro in the Convent of the Augustines de Murcia" and will take place at 19:30 pm in the Museum with free admission.
