The Department of Culture, who leads Rafael Gomez, coordinate four municipal services to proceed to assess the current state of the Old Jail named after the city of Murcia acquire the property of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and initiate the removal of debris and cleaning of this landmark building.
The first step of this initiative will be borne by Heritage Service, whose technicians this morning visited the property to check its condition and undertake maintenance interventions deemed appropriate.
Furthermore, it shall remove garbage inside and conditioning of green areas (courtyards) which are kept in jail.
Culture also coordinate the participation of experts in heritage and culture in order to propose future uses of the building, prior to the convening of an ideas competition on the recovery of space for public use.
As noted a few days ago the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, during this process will engage students and teachers in schools of architecture and complementary training work.
