The Polytechnic University of Cartagena, in Murcia University, held on Monday, the 30th, in Cartagena Solemn Opening Ceremony of the 2013-2014 academic year, to be chaired by the rector of the UPCT, Jose Antonio Franco, and will be attended by the Minister of Education, Universities and Employment, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
At 10:40 hours the procession will be organized to go to the auditorium of the UPCT (Old Naval Hospital), where he held the graduation ceremony.
In the procession involving over 150 teachers of public universities in the region.
The ceremony will feature the Vocal Group 'Alma Mahlerque', who plays the Canticorum Iubilo at the beginning, and Gaudeamus igitur at the end of it.
Also speak at the ceremony on Murcia Brass Quintet, who will perform, among other pieces, Trumpet Voluntary, Air and Rondeau.
During the act, the secretary general of the UPCT, Maria del Carmen Pastor Alvarez, read the Report of the Academic year 2012-2013.
Sergio Amat Plata, Professor of Applied Mathematics at the UPCT and board member of the European Mathematical Society, will deliver the inaugural lecture entitled "The Role of Applied Mathematics".
Following speeches by Rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Jose Antonio Franco.
Concluded the speeches of the bodies, the Minister of Education, Universities and Employment, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, declare inaugurated the course.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, the government delegate, Joaquín Bascuñana; Industry CEOs, Pedro Jimenez Research, Eduardo Osuna, VET and Higher Education, Marta Lopez, Universities, Luis Javier Lozano and as various national and regional deputies, mayors of various municipalities in the region, deans and presidents of various professional associations, and other civil and military authorities.
