The Fair in September 2013 in the city generates an economic impact of over 15 million euros (24/09/2013)

Participation in the fair, which has a record number of visitors, helped to boost economic activity.

Some 350,000 people visit the gardens and energize the hotel industry, restaurants and shops.

More than a hundred hoteliers participated in the Fair of Wine and Food, Fair R Cap, Food Week.

Hotel occupancy on weekends grows Fair this year to 25%.

The September Fair, as well as a favorable time for fun, it also provides an impetus to tourism, the economy, employment and trade in the city.

This is evidenced by the positive balance of the parties that this morning presented the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, and they have offered to Murcia 200 proposals in its different locations during the 12 days of festivities.

The Mayor was accompanied by Council of Culture and Celebration, Rafael Gomez and Tourism, Miguel Cascales.

Scheduled activities have allowed the maintenance of hundreds of jobs and the creation of other parties during the period, among them service companies involved in the assembly of The Orchards, the concerts, the attractions of the Fair , catering services and supply food booths, stalls scattered throughout the city and drive to small businesses.

The arrival of tourists to the city for the holidays was also increased, as the data handled by the Department of Tourism.

Taken together, the Fair has been an economic impact for the city of Murcia over 15 million euros.

Behind this amount is one million visitors Murcia and, along the Fair and including the procession, participated in the many events planned (attending concerts, accommodation and catering, fair attractions, gardens, bullfighting, etc..).

Just for the Orchards is estimated that 350,000 people went in the days of festivities.

Increased hotel occupancy

Hotel occupancy in the city of Murcia, according to the Department of Tourism also grew this year by 8% over the previous year, reaching almost 50% occupancy during the September Fair.

The increase is even more striking in the case of the two weekends of the fair, when there was an increase in occupancy, also over the previous year, from 23% and 25% respectively.

More public at The Orchards

Mayor House explained that, along with the traditional celebrations of the Malecon, and La Azacaya Fica, this edition of the Fair have joined other proposals, among which I include the Itinerant Music Festival, Tours of the History, I monologues Nights, Festival of Street theater, sports activities, I Cover Fair, an extravaganza piromusical and I Verbena Child.

Data on the number of visitors to the gardens of Malecón (headquarters of the camp of the Moors and Christians, of the Wine and Food Fair and Gardens) show an increase in the number of participants, which this year amounted to 350,000 (50,000 more than last year).

For the first time, up to 40 chefs have responded to the call of the First Fair cover.

They have joined 44 other companies in Gastronomy Week, 36 companies in the Fair of Wine and Food, 10 gardens and 10 exhibitors.

More attractions in La Fica

The enclosure of the Fair this year has also seen a greater influx of public during all Fair afternoons.

In fact, this year exceeded one hundred attractions-the last year were 91 - including up to 50 food booths, 5 more than in the previous edition.

The fairground, on the other hand, have highlighted the increase in the number of tourists who enjoyed Murcia and attractions.

Alongside the exhibition of La Fica, Cattle Fair also recorded a significant increase in the number of visitors.

Musical Proposals

Another proposal that has allowed a new impetus to trade has been holding more than 20 concerts, including the Lemon Pop, R Abarca Shoes Solidarity Festival, free musical performances in The Gardens and concerts Chain 100 and Rock FM.

Some of these events, as LMFAO concert and Auryn, managed to sell out.

Around 45,000 (15,000 more than last year) people have attended any of them.

The day of the Patron

On the day of the Pilgrimage of the patron saint of Murcia, applying for licenses to sell at different positions along the route from the Cathedral to the Shrine of Monte was raised this year to a total of 101, including those granted for positions and food booths (among which were various bars, churros, refreshment or snacks) and other activities, representing a 50% increase over the previous year.

Thus, the Department of Markets has seen a marked increase over the previous year.

It is estimated that around 700,000 pilgrims accompanied the Virgin of Fuensanta in his pilgrimage to the mountain, higher than that recorded last year.
