The new facilities for the maintenance of the bus fleet providing transport service in the city, were opened today by the Mayor, Miguel Angel House.
With an investment of two million euros, 35 construction workers have been involved.
The event, held this morning, also had the assistance of Councillor for Traffic and Transport, Javier Iniesta, Group President Ruiz, Gregorio Ruiz, President of Fernanbús, Jesus Catalan, the CEO of the joint venture, Alberto Egido, Transport manager Murcia, José Enrique Pérez, and the president of the municipal board of the environment.
The plot that houses the new garage is located at the confluence of streets and Totana Abarán Integrated Transport Center, near the Industrial West.
With a total area of ​​6,000 square meters, it has risen a building of 604 m2, of which almost 400 are occupied by the workshop and other offices.
Also has enabled a large parking area for buses with a capacity to park around 40 cars.
The facilities also have a compression plant and supply of natural gas that supplies the fleets, allowing Murcia further advance sustainability policies, especially in the field of clean energy.
Compressed natural gas is viewed as a clean fuel and therefore more environmentally friendly than petroleum products, since it contributes to improve air quality, as it reduces by greater than 85% oxide emissions of nitrogen and particulate matter, major pollutants that affect human health, and up to 20% of CO2 emissions, the main greenhouse gas.
Furthermore, the CNG reduces noise pollution, because a vehicle natural gas to 50% reduces the noise generated by the motor.
The entire bus fleet, currently consisting of 28 vehicles reserve -4 of them-, are powered by compressed natural gas and are self-sufficient in gas plant built, allowing reduced by up to 375,000 kilograms of CO2 emissions.
