The UCAM San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia has signed this morning at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee sponsorship deal with sixteen top-level athletes that become part of the sports of the educational institution.
Athletes Diego Ruiz, Benjamin Sanchez, Albaladejo and Ursula Lorenzo Ruiz, swimmers Melani Costa, Juan Miguel Rando, Teresa Perales and Duane Da Rocha, the beach volleyball players Elsa Baquerizo and Liliana Fernandez, canoeists and Paco Sete Cubelos Benavides, the taewkwondista Brigitte Yague, badminton player Paul Albian, Ismael Navarro wrestler and Olympic shooting competitor Fatima Galvez become part of the sports team of the Catholic University of Murcia.
These athletes get so comprehensive support by the UCAM, besides scholarship sponsor them so they can start or continue their academic thinking ahead.
Jose Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM, stressed the importance of the event and recalled the commitment of the institution he presides: "The UCAM wants to sponsor and scholarships to athletes so they can continue their career and academically trained."
He also highlighted the figure of the president of the COE as key in achieving these agreements: "Thanks to Alejandro Blanco all these sponsorships and scholarships are possible and we can work with the Spanish Olympic Committee."
Meanwhile, Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, acknowledged the work and the efforts being made for sport UCAM Spanish and remarked that "acts like this ensure the future of Spanish sport".
Also sent a message to the new athletes UCAM: "You are setting a great example to youth. Should be formed. Competitive life is very short".
Among the athletes present at the event, highlighting the Olympic medalist Brigitte Yague.
