The Foundation for Health Research and Training and Research Institute Biosanitary Murcia Region of Murcia held from 14 to 17 International Research Congress ZDM6 (Models Zebrafish disease), which are analyzed and discussed in depth the recent results in this field of research, as well as new techniques available.
The meeting, led by Dr. Victor Mulero and Jorge Galindo at the University of Murcia and Dr. Maria Luisa Cayuela University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, will take place from 11:00 am tomorrow, July 14, in Real Casino de Murcia (Tatters Street, 18).
The Congress will feature international researchers using zebrafish as a model to study hematopoiesis, inflammation, immunity, infection and cancer.
The biology of this fish, small and transparent, and the high similarity between the genome and the human being, with which it shares 70 percent of the genetic information and over 80 percent of the genes responsible for diseases have become one of the experimental models increasingly endorsed by scientists to examine human diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer's.
Among the experts who will be in Murcia these days are American researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Cancer Institute Dana-Farber in Boston, the University of Washington and California, and the Harvard Medical School.
