The association OGKK Spain (Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate-Do Kyokai Spain Europe Kan-Karate Honbu Dojo Gojun Onaga) celebrates 40 years in Spain.
This discipline came to the region from the hand of Onaga Ryoichi karate teacher, 40 years ago.
1,500 people practiced this discipline in the municipality of Murcia and a total of 2,500 nationwide.
In addition, in 2010 there was a meeting of heads of government of Spain and Japan and decided a Year of Spain in Japan, and one year of Japan in Spain, in 2013 and 2014, coinciding with the commemoration of the 400 years of exchange Hispanic-Japanese.
As a result of these events the town hosts a series of international events organized by the Association OGKK Spain and endorsed by the Spanish Federation of Karate, with the collaboration of the city of Murcia.
From 11 to July 13 will be held the XII European OGKK Gasshuku karate-European course, with athletes from Spain and countries like Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Czech Republic, Belgium, France, Portugal and Argentina, at the Sports Center Fleet.
The course is taught nine renowned Japanese masters.
On 13 July, at 19.30 hours will be held at the restaurant El Churra, a dinner on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of Spain-Japan relations and the 40th anniversary of Ryoichi master Onaga, to be attended by the Ambassador of Japan in Spain Satoru Satoh.
The July 14 has been provided to 31 National Karate Trophy GGKK in Hall Prince of Asturias.
