The Department of Social Welfare and Health announces a new contest to promote solidarity and teamwork among pupils aged between 12 and 16 years old The awards ceremony will take place this evening at 18 pm at the Community Action Center of CEPAIM
The Department of Social Welfare and Health, directed by María del Carmen Pelegrin, has organized, following the success of previous years, an awareness campaign to promote solidarity oriented youth Secondary 2, under the slogan: I also I can be supportive.
The awards, which will be chaired by the councilor of Social Welfare and Health, María del Carmen Pelegrin, will take place from 18.00 am at the Community Action Center CEPAIM (old railway station) located in Beniaján .
The Office of Volunteer Social Service Center "South Murcia" belonging to the Department of Social Welfare and Health has been developing since 2000 a number of activities to raise awareness and promote solidarity and volunteerism.
The objectives have tried to get are:
- Transmit values ​​of solidarity and the common good teamwork and solidarity as a basis for taking action to volunteer in the future.
- Reflect on the possible action to exercise solidarity actions on reality closer (family, friends, neighbors, etc..)
- Acquire a critical analysis of reality.
- Acquire group work habits.
- Share with the other members of the group information and knowledge, so mutual enriching.
- Assess the impact and implications of volunteering at the collective level.
The campaign has been structured so that it has carried out a Volunteer Fair with three workshops, each associated with a value of solidarity.
All the workshops have been guided and empowered by professional Social Service Center "South Murcia".
The workshops that have been conducted are as follows:
Workshop 1: Teamwork KIN - BALL (12 young)
2nd Workshop: The Common Good - RELAXATION (12 young)
3rd Workshop: Solidarity - CREATIVE WALL (12 young)

Parallel framed within the campaign "I can be Solidarity" has carried out the Competition What does it mean for you to volunteer-Contestants could express through the various categories of the competition what they meant to them and Volunteering.
Aimed at young people aged 12-16 years, has made a disclosure to 2,800 young people directly in the classroom of seven Secondary Schools belonging to the South and indirectly through various contacts with youth associations and diffusion through websites of the Department of Health and Welfare and the Department of Sports, Youth and Tourism.
The presentation of the work could be done in four categories: short story, photography, drawing and video, divided into two age groups of 12-14 years, and 15-16 years.
Once the deadline for submission of work as specified in the Tender, the jury has failed one winner per category and age, being deserted the video category in the age group A (12-14 years) and the photography category in the age range B (from 15-16 years).
Participating schools were: Beniaján IES, IES Monte Miraverte of Torreagüera, ALQUERIAS IES and the IES La Basilica (ALGEZARES).
A total of 24 teachers participated and a total of 502 students.
