A doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia by Javier Gomez Bueno included among the conclusions of the Spanish sports press not always meets ethical standards contained in the codes of ethics of their profession.
The study analyzed nearly a thousand texts of the largest circulation daily sports-Mark, As, Sport and Mundo Deportivo-, based on seven variables: bias, subjectivity, gender mix, rumor-rigor, sensationalism, violent language, manipulation-servility and unfounded accusations of corruption and class arbitration.
The author in his thesis recommends approval of Professional Journalist Statute so you can exercise coercive measure to counteract the excesses communicative and publishers.
From the results of the work also shows that the percentages of the Catalan sports media to Madrid tripled in some variables, such partiality and subservience.
The thesis was supervised by professors Cristina Roda and Pedro Antonio Rojo.
