The old jail building located on Avenue Primo de Rivera is closer to belong to City Hall today following approval by the Governing Board of the agreement that the City shall pay to the Treasury the amount of 99,792 euros in twelve monthly installments.
This amount is derived from the difference in value of this historic property, valued at 12,116,509 euros, with the plots that the City performs the swap, valued at a total of 12,016,716 euros.
Once signed the deed of exchange will begin to fulfill this payment by the building that until now was owned by the Inland Revenue under the Ministry of Finance.
Thus, the City is able to recover other public space located in a strategic location of the city, continuing the initiative launched by the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, for Murcia to enjoy iconic buildings of the city.
This achievement adds to the already made for the municipality, as the ultimate recovery of the River Segura, the signing of the agreement for the underground train tracks passing through the city of Murcia, the rehabilitation of the environment Artillery Barracks as a cultural, educational and recreational for Murcia and creating sculptural spaces among others.
Through a swap with the city of Murcia, the tax may have the land they need to reunify their services in two municipal plots-cultural care equipment 3,300 to 4,600 meters-7900 meters total between Avenue Juan Charles I and John of Bourbon, which will yield the city, and that in turn will become head of the old jail building.
The Ministry of Finance shall have a period of one year to submit a draft work.
