The Department of Social Welfare and Health and Education of the City of Murcia continue to work against truancy driving support service volunteer tutoring project as a family.
The Council has approved the specifications for the procurement of this service, that during the course 2012/2013 has provided educational support to 167 children, with the help of 105 volunteers.
This project is developed since 2000.
The company carries out the recruitment of volunteers, who are students at the University of Murcia, offer training and are responsible for their coordination.
Children are referred from area educators the Social Welfare Department.
Volunteers offer home tutoring children or in groups of 3 or 4 children, two days a week.
They also have contact with teachers of young children.
They also organize gatherings among volunteers, and between the children and the volunteers.
On Wednesday held a ceremony of diplomas to the volunteers who participated in the project.
This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Service to Diversity and Volunteerism at the University of Murcia.
