The City of Murcia, through the Department of Culture directed by Rafael Gomez, has completed the restoration of the Monument to Francisco Salzillo, located in the Plaza de Santa Eulalia.
The monument was inaugurated in 1899 and pays tribute to the most brilliant sculptor of all time Murcia.
The intervention previous works have included the preparation of a report on the state of the piece, to determine the extent of deterioration in some parts of its structure that in some extreme, had landslides.
Among the tasks undertaken rehabilitation has proceeded to consolidate his base and applying a special coating that prevents the damp and repairing various cracks in the four columns that hold the bust of the sculptor.
Regarding the bust, has undertaken the restoration of the piece, which was carved by sculptor Araciel Sanchez.
The work was affected by several flaws, the result of inclement weather and the presence of vegetation at its base.
Similarly, the installation has been improved over the columns.
The painting has also been replaced by other anti-graffiti coating, acrylic resin based, to prevent further acts of vandalism in the future.
