Several engineering experts UCAM analyzed in water management, its treatment and reuse through this journey
The Catholic University of Murcia UCAM held this morning the First Day of Integral Cycle Management of Water and Environment, organized by the Civil Engineering Department of the University.
Note that in this day involving experts in the field as the president of the Segura basin, Michelangelo Ródenas, the Director General of Water of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water of Murcia, Joaquin Grin, and the Director General Environment of the Ministry of the Presidency, Amador Lopez, among others.
The rector of the UCAM, Josefina García Lozano, and the Dean of the Civil Engineering Degree, Pedro de los Santos Jimenez, have been commissioned to inaugurate the First Day of Integral Cycle Management of Water and Environment, which he said the rector "is an absolute issue today throughout the world and especially in our region, where water is scarce and therefore precious."
Therefore, the objective of this day was the "awareness and dissemination" of this issue through "the heads of the region on issues of water."
The President of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), Miguel Angel Ródenas, congratulated the UCAM by day initiative and has lectured on the treatment and reuse of water in Spain, ie, on their efficient use.
Ródenas also spoke about "the water deficit Segura Basin", as it poses "a big problem" in Murcia to be solved "so compelling" as our production system is based on irrigation.
Therefore, "it is the national water planning needed to solve the water problem definitely."
Furthermore, CHS president also stressed that "the river Segura is the least polluted continental level through the treatment plants."
Currently, "in 100% of the length of river contamination is 3%."
Precisely on water purification in Murcia also spoke the Water CEO of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, Joaquín Grin, who explained the development of the Recovery Plan in the Region of Murcia.
Grin has said the Murcia purification system serves water to 2 million Murcia and has capacity to serve 5 million, making it "very powerful".
Furthermore, only in 2012 were treated 115 million m3 of water in the Region of Murcia, "of which 90% is reused for irrigation."
For his part, the Director General of Environment of the Ministry of Presidency, Amador Lopez, said that the Region of Murcia is competent to "quality management of inland and ocean discharges to arrive in the best possible conditions. "
Furthermore, it indicated that environmental "prevention is better than cure" and that disasters in this area "have large negative effects on the economy and ecological balance."
On the day also involved the Managing Director of the Bank of cleansing and purifying of the Region of Murcia (ESAMUR), Manuel Albacete Commissioner CHS waters, José Carlos González, the Director of Engineering Bionet, Ricardo Egea, and Professor of Engineering and Environmental Toxicology UCAM, Amalio Garrido.
The latter has talked about the new substances have been found in the water of European rivers, such as caffeine and ibuprofen, "dangerous to human health" and we consume through fish or vegetables that have been in contact with the contaminated water.
Therefore, it is necessary that future legislation on water treatment contemplate these new substances.
