On the occasion of the National Day of Cystic Fibrosis, which marks the fourth Wednesday of April each year, the council of Social Welfare and Equality, María del Carmen Pelegrin and Alicia Barnuevo, this morning attended the event organized by association in Cardinal Square Belluga.
Under the slogan "You breathe without thinking ... I only think about breathing", the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Murcia has installed an information table Belluga and 13 hours has taken place the symbolic act of puncturing hundreds of balloons.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the most common serious genetic diseases and an estimated incidence in our country around one in 5,000 births, while one in 35 people are healthy carriers of the disease.
It is a genetic chronic disease that affects various organs, especially lungs and pancreas.
In recent years progress has been made in the understanding and treatment of the disease but, despite this, it remains a disease with no cure.
Therefore it is very important to promote research, as we approach a possible cure of the disease and improved treatments.
