The Councillor for Economy and Finance, Isabel Martinez Conesa, presented to the Governing Board of the City of Murcia budget settlement of 2012, which shows a surplus of 2.28 billion euros, which will be used to generate commitment growth and employment in the municipality of Murcia, and to maintain financial stability.
"This surplus, Martínez Conesa, is an achievement considering that it has been working with a budget of over 400 million euros."
The positive close of 2012 will substantially benefit Murcia, pointed the head of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Finance awarded to municipalities in surplus, which may allocate the remaining positive cash making investments.
The city of Murcia is good bills.
This good management carried out by the City Government Team is what has allowed not exceed debt limits, have a positive cash remaining (42.4 million euros) and shed surplus (EUR 2.28 million) .
The Governing Board of the City of Murcia has given the green light this morning to the 2012 budget settlement a positive settlement for municipal coffers to achieve savings of € 68 million has been earmarked for payment to suppliers (41.8 million ICO Plan).
The good economic results being achieved are the result of a great effort of the government team based on:
- Budgetary stability
- Cost containment
- Payment to suppliers
- The maintenance of the services offered to citizens
- Y debt reduction
The goal of achieving budgetary stability is what has led to better pay in the shortest space of time providers and that, thanks to the launch of the ICO Plan, is being paid for two to three months.
That the City is one of the least indebted municipalities of Spain is a fact too obvious, because if in 2011 the aim was to move from pay bills from six to three months in the year 2012 has come to reach the average of just over two months.
Spending in 2012 reached levels lower than those obtained in 2011, rising from 77.27% to 75.22%, an action that has been the result of the effort of the government team to carry out a major cost containment in the city of Murcia.
Regarding income, responsible for Finance has also shown its satisfaction in this regard.
Was achieved in 2012 reached 86% of budgeted revenue, a fairly high percentage, despite the crisis in which we find ourselves, and not to be neither more nor less than the measures undertaken by the Department.
Both in 2011 and in 2012 revenue estimate has been more successful, while more realistic, and all thanks to the payment facilities offered by the city of Murcia.
In 2011 there were more than 3,000 cases of fractionation and delay, compared to the 9,889 recorded in 2012.
The commitment and efforts for a total reorganization of municipal accounts and support of the Government of the Nation with the ICO Plan payments to suppliers is what has allowed us in the last two years (2011 and 2012) to reduce the debt acquired in previous years, reaching almost reduced by more than 99% debt to suppliers prior years.
At December 31, 2012, the city of Murcia ended the year with a debt of 209.7 million euros, an amount that is 8.7 million less than expected.
