Murcia City Council has given its approval to the agreement of collaboration with Empresa Municipal de Aguas de Murcia (EMUASA) to formalize the work between the two institutions on Extraordinary Social Fund aimed at debt forgiveness accredited by the state of economic precariousness of applicants, establishing a procedure for the purpose of collaboration with the municipal social services, to issue appropriate reports evidencing situations benefit from the fund requested.
Thus, knowing the social reality and the serious damage to a significant number of families in the municipality, as a result of the economic crisis, may involve the removal of an essential service such as drinking water, by the inability to take the amount of their supply, in 2012, the Municipal Water and Sanitation Murcia (EMUASA) endowed a Extraordiario Social Fund, worth 200,000 euros.
The data for the year 2012, to December 31, are as follows:
- The number of applications was 590.
- 90 were dismissed
- The 498 were granted a total of 199,082 euros, for 2628 receipts.
Given the positive experience made in 2012, is valued by both parties whether to formalize this cooperation by signing an agreement which reflect the conditions of the grant and continuity.
Similarly, the agreement contained in annex I to rules governing the fund as Annex II and the procedure for requesting and issuing reports.
The agreement, which involves no cost to the city of Murcia, will be valid until December 31, 2013, may be extended on an annual basis, up to a maximum of four years, subject to agreement of the parties, adjusting the budget to the annual budget EMUASA approved for this purpose.
