More than 1,500 students from primary, secondary and teachers Bachiller and municipal schools join the initiative of Unicef ​​benefit race 'Drops for Niger', supported by the Department of Equality Policies and Development Cooperation, headed Alicia Barquero, and the collaboration of the School Sport section of the city of Murcia.
It is the second year that this initiative is held in conjunction with World Water Day, commemorated today.
The race is held this morning at the CEIP La Arboleda, James, and John XXIII, with the participation of over a thousand students.
Last week the race was held in Algezares attended by students from IES La Basilica and the schools of the district, with the participation of over 500 students.
Yesterday students organized their career IES Juan Carlos I.
Moreover, it has also held the Olympics Athletics Solidarity with the participation of over 300 students of Sacred Heart schools (Zeneta), Cierva Peñafiel (Murcia), Federico Arce (Murcia), Christ of Mercy and Angel Zapata (the Torreagüera two).
The goal is to educate children and youth about the importance of water and its relationship to child survival and get financial resources for UNICEF programs in Niger for children and ensure that children in the African country have access to health, water, hygiene and proper nutrition.
The races will be between 500 and 1,500 meters, depending on the ages of the children involved.
Each student enrolled paid 1 euro per adult and 3 euros for UNICEF projects in Niger.
This African country is one of the poorest in the world, in which only 46% of the population has access to potable water.
