The elevation of water for irrigation in the Segura Basin, which is taken as an example the engine "Resurrection" in Abarán, has been the subject of study of the work just published Professor of Geography at the University of Murcia and José María Gómez former Vice Chancellor Espin.
Espin Gomez discusses the operation and wealth that produced this engine, which opened in 1912, "thanks to the social and political spirit of the time, which adopted irrigation development as a source of national wealth."
The engine had, for its implementation, added the professor, with the encouragement of enterprising men like Jesus Tempered doctor and lawyer Isidoro Sánchez Gómez Gómez, who joined the hundred and fifty founding members of the Community Irrigation Resurrection.
As data showing which led to the entry into operation of the engine, the author of this book states that "changed the face of a people as Abarán it had taken six hundred years to bring under irrigation 60 acres in the Valley and now transformed in only sixty years, over six hundred acres in the field. "
The issue has the support of that Community Irrigation, Seneca Foundation and Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
