The departments of Education, and the service of European programs have been launched, for the fourth year running, the program 'Europe in Schools 2.0', for students from 5th and 6th grade in order to facilitate the understanding of the European Union , their countries, symbols and institutions.
Through activities and workshops schoolchildren discover the origin of the European Union, its institutions, the different areas of EU policies and the main rights and benefits to countries that are members.
Also, it speaks on member countries to know their culture, language, etc..
25 workshops will be held from 4 to 28 February, and involving 13 schools in the municipality with a total of 567 schools.
Education Councilwoman Maria Dolores Sanchez and Councilman Employment, Trade and Business, José María Tortosa, participated this morning in the activities that have been carried out in the school Santa Maria de Gracia.
The objectives are to enhance the knowledge of the European Union, through artistic creation and development of the concepts of democracy and European citizen, bring students to the concept of European Union, through its constituent countries, symbols and particularities, its history and development, expansion and incorporation of different countries, and stimulate creativity, combining imagination and the acquisition of knowledge about the various topics of the workshops and promote a reflective attitude.
The project is developed in three parts: workshops with students in the classroom, exhibition panels (about the origin of the EU, rights and duties, member countries, EU government and European elections), and exhibition of the work done by students and photographs.
The workshops are held in sessions of 120 minutes.
