The City presents initiatives to revitalize business and employment (25/01/2013)

Mayor brings together 22 industry associations and eight councilors to discuss concrete measures to boost short-term trading activity in neighborhoods and districts.

The objective is to define a Revitalization Plan detailing the actions to be carried out in the areas of business, consumer, urban quality, cleanliness, culture, tourism, urban planning and security.

Chamber highlights the key role of local commerce as the backbone of the municipality.

Reviving traditional trade and proximity of neighborhoods and districts, commercial activity and employment is the ultimate goal that met today at the Palace of Almudí representatives of trade associations in the municipality with the councilors who run areas that can boost actions to improve the retail offer of Murcia and promote this sector as the backbone of the city.

Attendees have come to the meeting, convened by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara.

It was a touchdown that councilors have raised their initiatives to promote and strengthen the attractiveness of Murcia as a shopping city, capital city of Mediterranean and congresses throughout the catchment area.

It seeks to promote cultural tourism, shopping, dining, entertainment and leisure, and agree actions encompassed within the Brand MUAC, Murcia Commercial Area.

By the municipality participated in the meeting the councilors of Commerce, José María Tortosa, Consumption, Christopher Smith, Urban Quality and Infrastructure, Ana Martinez Vidal, Urbanism, Juan Antonio Bernabe, Security, Nuria Fuentes, Tourism, Miguel Cascales, urban sanitation Jose Ros, and Culture, Rafael Gomez.

As for industry associations, have been invited to the meeting the representatives of traders Murcia Centro, Barrio del Carmen, Triangle, Carmelite, Vista Alegre, Fleet, Stables, and Zarandona Beniaján; trade associations of the squares Veronicas, The Pool, Saavedra Fajardo, El Carmen Espinardo, Cabezo de Torres, Vistabella and San Andres, in addition to the Chamber of Commerce, Fecom, Hostemur, the Association of Market and Murcianos Youth Association for Human Rights.

The Mayor noted the impetus to trade and support for small businesses as two of the key priorities of the City Council today, hence the need to "join our efforts to implement initiatives that promote business growth ".

Chamber recalled that this is a sector that not only creates wealth and employment, but also causes a huge effect on the activity in the city, increasing the quality of life of citizens and is a major tourist attraction element.

The eight councilors have discussed the measures that will serve to integrate the plan to revitalize the business and employment as well as those already being ejecurando or have carried out, of which is coordinated by José María Tortosa, responsible for Employment, Trade and Enterprise.

These measures include:

- Emergency Plan for graffiti removal and graffiti

- Urban integration of waste collection points

- Coordination of commercial and cultural activities schedules and dynamic actions on the street

- Promotion of trade fairs and commercial events and neighborhoods and districts

- Promotion of gastronomic routes

- Approval of the administrative measures to streamline negotiations and proceedings related to commercial activity

- Design of specific promotional campaigns

- Improving and beautifying urban spaces

- Increased police presence and appointment of a liaison officer with the owners of the establishments.
