The IU-Greens spokesman in the city of Murcia, Esther Herguedas, today expressed "shock and rejection," the announcement by the Councillor for Safety and Human Resources, Nuria Fuentes, that the City will work on creating an ordinance to regulate prostitution.
Herguedas recalled that the development of this ordinance "was discussed and rejected earlier this year with the votes against the PP" in a city in which the Councillor for Social Welfare and Health, María del Carmen Pelegrin, expressed opposition to regulate prostitution by ordinance.
"Pelegrin understood that the problem was not resolved and yet, would a lack of protection for women in prostitution in the street and his council serves in collaboration with an NGO."
According Herguedas, the government team should clarify its position on this issue and if it intends to take a decision contrary to the agreement of the Whole, submit the same body that ruled against a few months ago.
