Two hundred people have come forward to get one of fifty places offered by the Department of Youth for young unemployed Murcia have the opportunity to do an internship in tourism businesses in Europe, thanks to the launch of the European initiative Leonardo.
Practices are held in Austria (12 participants), Czech Republic (10 participants), Germany (6 participants), United Kingdom (12 participants) and Italy (10 participants) and will run for twelve weeks.
The goal is for young people to gain work experience to facilitate job search, develop competencies and skills to increase skill levels and improve entrepreneurship.
This project is aimed at youth in the municipality of between 18 and 35 years old, unemployed and have not ever worked.
They should be graduates in Tourism, Communication, Public Relations, Languages, Business Administration, Hospitality, Travel Agencies or Restoration.
Participants have covered the costs of accommodation, food, travel and language course.

This project came about because of the high percentage of unemployed youth in the municipality that has never had a job, lack of specialized work experience of young people in their professional sector, lack of opportunities for training in another EU country, demand for increasingly specialized by the tourism industry and to promote the mobility of young European.
Also, with this initiative capturing synergies and efforts that are being developed for tourism through the Tourism Promotion Plan Murcia 365, contributing to the professionalization of the sector.
