The project has been managed from the Social Services Centre "Ciudad de Murcia" in UTS Barriomar (with attached neighborhoods of St. Pius X, James, and La Purisima-Barriomar), in order to create a training , advice and exchange of experiences, family and group level, with African families residing in the demarcation of the UTS and raising families of their personal and social potential and enhance their relationship with the social resources of the environment .
From Barriomar UTS has detected a high rate of families of African origin living in stable neighborhoods demarcation of the same demanding different resources attending social and / or educational.
In 2011 and until February 2012 the total number of families served at UTS, approximately 23% originate from African countries (according to data collected by professionals zone UTS).
This project has been aimed at addressing social problems related to a segment of this population with a very particular family profile.
These families consist of the couple and the children, and that in most cases the woman has not done work activity or training since arriving in Spain dedicated to the care of children and family.
The mother has been actively in the labor market, either by lack of labor resources of the Municipality, either for lack of personal skills to access them, or by cultural issues.
As the father is unemployed, or not receiving benefit / unemployment benefits.
Are households that have pending or are feeling any financial benefit from social services both municipal and regional and / or have received in the past 6 months, all of them active users of the Service of Information, Guidance and Assessment of Zone UTS by social, labor and economic disadvantage.
The objectives were:
- Promote a space to sensitize families regarding the need to modify some of their daily dynamics in order to achieve their social and labor integration.
- Educate families to treat their personal potential to respond to their needs independently.
- Provide a training in relation to the labor market and socio all family members.
- To provide families with the necessary tools for the use of social support networks in the community, encouraging active participation in the resources of the area and / or municipal.
- Promote the use of leisure time to improve family welfare.
There have been nine group sessions of two hours duration, where the couple has participated preferably, establishing a session a week, in the morning with the goal of school-age children are in their respective schools.
In the case of the existence of children who are of school age children do not attend school, has seen a room in the same facility where the course is developed with a babysitter for the children of participants.
The turnout has been up to 23 people, previously selected by the UTS Team Zone.
The project has a duration of 2 months, which established sessions took place from October 23 to December 18, 2012, from 10 am to 12 pm on Tuesday of each week.
