The Board of Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Murcia took the agreement to adhere to the statement of the Spanish Network of Philosophy (REF), which shows his displeasure with the elimination of two of the three compulsory subjects in the draft Organic Law of Education Quality Improvement.
The agreement states that this project removes "two of the three compulsory subjects in the cycle of studies of Philosophy in Higher Education, Ethics fourth year of ESO and the History of Philosophy in the second year of high school.
"This cut-REF-destroys says what has been a mainstay of the Spanish education system in the last three decades and also conflicts with the educational objectives stated in the preamble to the same project and the recommendations of the UNESCO ".
For members of this network, which groups the Conference of Deans of Philosophy, Institute of Philosophy of the CSIC and 35 professional associations in this discipline, "these studies provide students with a triple formation."
They add that facilitates instrumental training in the use of oral and written language, which helps to improve their reasoning skills, understanding and communication and provides an interdisciplinary cross-training, and a comprehensive education.
Finally, lamenting "that philosophy is used over and over again, by successive governments of Spain, as a wildcard that stretches and shrinks on a whim with every educational reform as a weapon in the ideological struggle between the two parties majority, or a currency that could be exchanged for the teaching of the Catholic religion. "
The School Board, on the other hand, has also agreed to request an interview with Minister of Education of the Autonomous Community, Sotoca Constantine, who propose to support their claims to the Ministry.
