The Department of Environment will work in 2013 to create a comprehensive system maintenance gardens, preserve biodiversity and pacify the city municipality.
The council's overall budget is EUR 13,468,827, of which the service of green areas and trees receive 12,020,627 euros, 1,117,200 Environment, the Local Energy Agency 81,000 and the Office of the Municipal Bicycle 250,000 euros.
The flagship project of the Service Urban green areas and trees is the implementation of a comprehensive service for the conservation and maintenance of gardens and woodland alignment.

This new service is twofold, while representing an improvement on the previous:
1) Increase the surface of gardens to maintain and retain all the existing in the municipality (of 1,835,961 m2 compared to 2.4 million m2) and woodlands alignment (from current 33,098 to 45,000 in the new contract).

This will more effectively manage the service with the use of new technologies in line with the Smart Cities project which has joined the city of Murcia.
