The School of Communication and Information Studies, University of Murcia delivered last Friday to the Sisters of Charity of Lorca collection of revenue during the celebration, last April, Congress Solidarity Crisis Communication, POT 2012.
The Crucible Congress 2012 held last April 27 at the premises of the University of Murcia and involved 15 leading professionals in the management of crisis situations across the country, both universities, consultants, public institutions, media and businesses.
At the conference, attended by about 200 people, is reflected on the role that communication is crucial in crisis scenarios (with reference to the terrible earthquake in Lorca), as an essential tool to quickly manage the actions of that people should be informed, informative responsibility of public institutions at all times, the role of media and the growing use of the Internet and social networks such dramatic situations that require rapid and effective response.
Apart from the academic and informational purposes to this day, 2012 was raised pot from the beginning as a way to bring the University of Murcia to the reality of the city of Lorca, greatly affected by the devastating events of the May 2011 earthquake and, recently, by the recent floods.
Thus, the faculty wanted to show solidarity with the city of the sun, resting from their media social reconstruction of the population of Murcia, a task for which all foreign aid is welcome.
The revenue generated by the organization of the congress was donated to the Sisters of Charity of Lorca for use in the FTAA project (Alternative to Street), a program to work with children and young people of the town of Lorca, for family circumstances, are at risk of social exclusion.
This project currently has no type of public assistance, and thrives only possible donations.
Upon delivery of the collection, which was made in Lorca, attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Javier Martínez Méndez, and teachers and coordinators of Congress Leonarda Garcia, Veronica de Haro and Jose Carlos Losada.
