The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, attended this afternoon at the book launch Churra.
History & Memories, a work of Pedro José Pérez Valera jutting into the rich history of the district and its people.
The event was also attended by the President of the Municipal Board of Churra, Francisco Muñoz.
Mayor Pedro Chamber stressed that Jose Valera proposes an interesting walk Churra's past, from its founding as a distinct enclave around the ninth century and the close ties that the district has always had with Murcia.
In addition, Chamber stressed that the research provided by Valera allow many people in Churra can get even closer to their roots, meet their ancestors and admire the privileged enclave occupied the hamlet.
The work is divided into several chapters that condense from the history of economic development in recent years, the famous people of the hamlet, the history of the temple dedicated to the Incarnation or the cemetery, school and other public places.
The author also includes in his book of photographs of Churra and its citizens, that condense instant memories of other times and demonstrates the vitality of a parish in celebrating its festivities, carnivals, sporting events and other symbols of hamlet, as in the case of ancient pines that stand before the church and the long tradition of the Order of the Magi, a representation that is from the eighteenth century.
Valera also proposes a research successful economic future of the district, from the old business of silk and paprika to modern industries and the traditional cultures that for centuries have kept generations of 'churreros' thanks to water historical ditches, as is the case with the known Churra Old.
Mayor finally congratulated the author for this work that complements the history Churra and Municipal Board of the district for their commitment in favor of Culture.
