The construction of a biogas plant, promoted by Estrella de Levante, represents an investment of approximately EUR 2.5 million and creating about 25 jobs.
It is the first enterprise agreement that future materializes in this area of research, innovation and opportunity, destined to become a landmark environmental.
The Mayor has witnessed the agreement signed this morning by Cespa Star Murcia and Levante.
The Cluster Environment and Renewable Energy Murcia today begins a new stage, which is an ambitious project materialize and turn it into real action.
The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, witnessed the agreement signed this morning by two of the most important and leading the region and sector leaders, Estrella de Levante and Murcia Cespa to develop an R & D with Cluster which gives a definitive step.
This is a collaborative plan for the construction of an anaerobic digestion plant to allow recovery by treating both organic residues as food-product from the manufacture of beer.
The act provides for an investment of approximately EUR 2.5 million and create about 25 direct and indirect jobs, regardless of the jobs created in construction.
The plant, which is the first in Spain is projected at agribusiness and will be operational in the summer, have the capacity to treat 15,000 tonnes of byproduct of beer and generate 1 million cubic meters of biogas per year.
The agreement was made possible because, on one hand, is fully consistent with the purposes for which the City Cespa Murcia and promote cluster: develop a clear environmental efficiency initiative, to help strengthen the economic activity of the municipality, promote technological innovation and Above all, encourage the creation of jobs in the town.
Also, the understanding between Estrella de Levante and Murcia Cespa offers a positive solution to the treatment of organic waste, while promoting renewable energy sources, thus fulfilling criteria of sustainability and environment, I + D + I and profitability .
The agreement signed this morning also satisfies four objectives:
- Reduced operating expenses for the management of the plant from being inside the treatment center
- Use of a facility to treat various types of materials that otherwise would not have been treated simultaneously
- Unification of environmental activities in one place
- Use of energy facilities from treatment
The collaboration between the two companies fit perfectly into the philosophy of the cluster, enabling him to find the embryo begins to walk.
Cespa raised in his bid for the award of separate collection and street cleaning in Murcia creating a biogas plant organic matter, which would produce methane in the plant itself, since it has 3 engines to produce electricity.
Meanwhile, Estrella de Levante was interested in carrying out a project for treatment of bagasse (byproduct from the production of beer), historically intended for animal nutrition and for now raised its energy, gas generating methane as a clean energy.
It's a performance that also has the support of the Ministry of Economy.
Addition of bagasse, the new biogas plant can treat other organic wastes whose characteristics make them likely to be used.
The City Council has played a role of facilitator and conciliator of wills and projects, giving prominence to the companies.
Thus, when not yet completed one year since it began to take shape, now clears the first project to be materialized in the field of Cluster Environment and Renewable Energy, and will soon be joined by others in which they are working.
Cradle of innovation, research and opportunity
Annex Treatment Center Cañada Hermosa, and as an extension of it, called host "Recycling Town", which is called to serve as a forum, a meeting place and center of opportunity for companies in the sector, besides allowing establishment of industries that allow more and better recovery and waste treatment.
To do this, the cluster will have 35 hectares for the establishment of companies interested in developing complementary systems in waste management, not currently available, encouraging R & D + I, sustainability and economic development and job creation .
Located near the center of municipal waste treatment Cañada Hermosa, previous studies estimated at over a hundred companies located in the region of Murcia, with a turnover of 600 million euros related to water management waste and energy that could be interested in participating in this initiative, which begins with a public-private vocation.
The cluster will originate a new area of innovation, research and opportunity, with a vocation to promote the creation and consolidation of companies.
Its ultimate goal is to foster wealth and job creation.
