The Department of Urban Quality and Research Business Association Construction Technology Centre of the Region of Murcia (CTCON) today have started a pilot project which has allowed Murcia have its first street with asphalt sustainable, thanks to an agreement signed Mayor and this association earlier this year.

Thus asphalt has been developed which reduces the pollutants into nitrates and nitrites that are harmless to the environment.
This allows the development of asphalt mixtures and bituminous decontaminants aims to reduce the concentration of NOx, CO2 COV'sy in this urban area of ​​high concentration of these components through application of a new type of mixture that possesses decontamination capacity due to the photocatalytic properties of the materials.
Councilwoman Martinez-Vidal pointed out that the cooperation of the City of Murcia with the Construction Technology Centre of the Region, which is made without incurring cost to the council, not only will focus on the construction of new asphalt sustainable but also will bring benefits as important as enhancing the R & D & I business, as it will assist companies that want to incorporate new technologies, improve the technological knowledge of the municipal officers, through training and share innovative experiences; involve citizens in the knowledge of new technologies greener and safer.
With these initiatives, the City of Murcia advances its goal of reducing emissions by 20% of greenhouse gases, to achieve 20% energy saving and also use 20% renewable energy by 2020.
