The opening of the pavilion IES Infante Don Juan Manuel brings to 39 the number of such facilities in operation, further strengthening the position of Murcia in the first place among the Spanish cities with more sports facilities such per capita.
The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, presided this morning's inauguration at a ceremony also attended by the Director General of Sports, Antonio Peñalver, the Councillor for Sports, Miguel Cascales, general secretary of the Government Commission, José Gabriel Ruiz, and President of the District Board, Ana Noriega.
With this opening, the municipality has currently covered pavilions with 39, 28 of them in districts, of which Infante was the third-along with the reconstructed and the Lobosillo Cagigal, which entered service in the legislature .
The existence of nearly 40 facilities of this nature represents a clear example of the investments made by the city in recent years and the impetus given to grassroots sport in recent years.
The new pavilion serves the IES Infante Don Juan Manuel and built within the Plan called MEC, which ends with this work, after completing the creation of 12 facilities in as many colleges and institutes of neighborhoods and districts.
The rest are located in San Basilio, El Carmen (Félix Rodríguez de la Fuensanta), Juan Manuel Infante, Narciso Yepes and Federico de Arce, in addition to the districts of El Palmar, Bacons Bridge (Tower), Torreagüera, Aljucer (Sculptor González Moreno), Stables, La Alberca (Qibla).
The investment has exceeded 9 million euros.
In this case, the cost has been USD 611,000.
The flag of the IES Infante Don Juan Manuel has a plural use: during school hours, will be used by the school; thereafter, is open to stakeholders, both sports schools as neighborhood residents.
The pavilion has an area of ​​1,400 m2 and has an indoor sports hall, changing rooms, storage rooms and lobby.
Ready for the practice of indoor football, handball, basketball and volleyball.
