House in Brussels explains advances in Urban Project in the neighborhood of the Holy Spirit (16/10/2012)

The Urban project for the renewal of the Holy Spirit Espinardo that is conducting the City of Murcia has been the core of the intervention of the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, in the seminar on local development that has taken place in the European Economic and Social Committee, at its headquarters in Brussels.

The commitment of municipalities to advance smart, sustainable and inclusive growth has occupied much of the Chamber presentation, given its status as mayor and president of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM).

The project is an initiative of the Urban Municipality of Murcia, co-financed with European funds, which aims to promote social cohesion and addresses the implementation of innovative strategies for economic and social regeneration of urban areas through an integrated approach, favoring sustainable development.

The project strategy discussed in the Neighborhood of the Holy Spirit is to take culture as the key factor to promote urban development and the knowledge society, contributing to the integration of minorities and the disadvantaged.

Furthermore, it is intended that the plan will contribute decisively to overcome urban segregation suffered by the neighborhood, integrating it into the rest of the city.

For this, the Mayor explained that the action is based on an integrated approach that involves consideration of the physical dimension, making it attractive for residents and visitors-, the social-improving quality of life for its inhabitants-and economic-development of cultural and creative industries as a strategic resource-interacting together.

House has detailed in his speech the seven priorities in which the proceedings are structured project: improving the urban environment, information society, social and social inclusion programs, vocational training, development of economic and business activity support, social infrastructure and promotion of culture.

Along with House, participated in the event the presidents of the International Association RED (Ruralité-Environnemen-Développement), Gérard Pewter, and RADAR (State Network for Rural Development), José Andrés García-Moro and Councilman Murcia Golf District and FMRM secretary, Manuel Duran.
