The analysis of the traditional winter holiday in the southeast peninsula constitutes the subject matter of the thesis defended by Tomás García Martínez in the School of Communication at the University of Murcia.
In his research, the author, who has obtained excellent cum laude, has handled major news sources, among which the Journal of Murcia, the period between 1879 and 1903.
The work explores the manifestations of folklore associated with religious aspects, especially the celebration of Christmas and holiday preparations of the Immaculate Conception Masses Gozo, Gallo and Pastors, rituals and petitions of parties aguilando Adagios, Kings, San Fulgencio, San Anton, the Candelaria and San Blas.
We also discuss the food in the Christmas season, in addition to the popular organology in Spanish east, musical instruments crews, popular songs in Murcia and everything related to the dances and the votive offerings of the time.
The thesis was directed by Professor Maria Dolores Ayuso.
