The Green Office of the University of Murcia with the support of the Vice President for Student and Employment and the collaboration of the Department of Environment, started last Saturday voluntary activity maintenance of flowerbeds Murcia Botanical Garden, the garden of the Malecon.
So, every Saturday morning, from 10.30 to 13.30, volunteers conducted various specific activities as planting, planting of seedlings, exemplary care, leaf collection, control weeds, guided tour for children, conducting a fair organic fruit and floral competitions.
The Malecon flowerbeds where they work and who have been assigned by the Department are located between the source and the bow that is in the center of the Garden.
The Green Office responsible for working with volunteers teaching botanical properties of plants and gardening techniques.
Among the objectives of the proposal are:
Promotion of botany and ethnobotany, his teaching and dissemination.
Protecting the natural heritage of the Garden of Malecón and other natural spaces and gardens of the city, the municipality of Murcia and the Region.
Design actions to sensitize the public on the need to be respectful of the public and the environment as a healthy lifestyle.
Spreading knowledge of plant diversity in the region and elsewhere in the world.
As the project and parallel activities designed especially for volunteers is the promotion and organization of various activities among which are: botanical tours, hiking, gardening workshops, environmental education workshops, courses in botany, floral competitions and exhibitions.
