The Councillor for the Environment, Adela Martinez-Cachá, inaugurated this morning the Portuguese-Spanish XII Congress of Herpetology, held in CEMACAM of Torreguil and who have registered more than 200 people
The mayor stressed that "conservation of herpetofauna is also special object of attention by the municipality of Murcia as amphibians and reptiles representing 50% of the species present in the region of Murcia."
"The recovery of habitats in the municipality is carried out in the framework of the model of land stewardship in collaboration with non-governmental organizations," added Martinez-Cachá.
So with the Association and Adesga Columbares has conditioned and operated pools and fountains whose waters lead to rafts specially prepared to maintain sufficient water depth for the biological development of these species.
For example in the House of Ginovinos are arranged completely naturalized three pools and a pool is suitable for easy entry and exit of amphibians.
This has led to their attention placed runner common toad and the presence of frogs and water snakes.
In the Majal Blanco are also installed two ponds and more in The Valley.
