The comprehensive plan for the promotion of healthy eating and physical activity in the municipality of Murcia, developed by Municipal Health Services of the Department of Social Welfare and Health, directed María del Carmen Pelegrin, has been awarded the NAOS Strategy Best National Healthy Eating Project.
This recognition is part of Naos Strategy Awards organized by the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition, Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.
The comprehensive plan for the promotion of healthy eating and physical activity in the municipality of Murcia 2008-2012 is an ambitious project that aims to improve intersectoral population health locally leading the activities in the field of healthy eating and physics.
The plan unfolds through actions in different areas:
- Intervention program in older people through collective social centers for the elderly.
- Intervention Program in the group of women through women's centers.
- Action program in schools for families, educators, students and catering.
- Activities for the general population in Community Center.
- Specific actions for social mediators and educators.
- Coordination with Health Centers: Patient Program schools.
- Project coordination and collaboration in Social Dining and Meals on Wheels.
- Information and awareness campaigns, publication of periodicals, etc..
For the effective development of the plan, with the involvement and synergy of different municipal, and Section of Senior Centers, Home Care, Children Schools, etc.
and with the collaboration of the University of Murcia by the Department of Food Technology, Nutrition and Food Science.
