The choice of Cadiz as the host city of the Assembly of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions CEMR-the first to be held in Spain, answered the bicentenary of the first Spanish constitution, promulgated there, and influential in the drafting of the constitutions of Latin American countries and the first European Liberal Charter.
The city of Cadiz hosts the largest gathering of municipalities and regions in Europe, gathered around the celebration of the XXV Assembly of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) to be held in the Conference Centre from 26 to 28 September .
The opening will be on Wednesday, the 26th, at five in the afternoon, under the chairmanship of Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Asturias.
The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, with the President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and Mayor of Santander, Iñigo de la Serna and other elected officials will attend the opening ceremony, which will also be a representative the National Government, the Mayor of Cadiz, Teofila Martinez CEMR President and Mayor of Stuttgart, Wolfgang Schuster, Mayor of Malmö (Sweden), host city of the previous Assembly, Ilmar Reepalu, and the President of the Provincial Cádiz, José Loaiza.
Board of Governors of the FEMP
On the occasion of the Assembly, on the morning of Wednesday 26, the Governing Board of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) will hold its regular meeting in Cadiz.
This is the first time the Board meets FEMP outside Madrid in this mandate.
The FEMP is the Spanish Section of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions.
The coincidence with an international event of the features of the General Assembly of the European organization gives special importance to the work of the national association.
