The IU-Greens spokesman in the city of Murcia, Esther Herguedas, today has dismissed as "ridiculous" the departure of 18,000 euros that the municipality will allocate to development cooperation.
Herguedas noted that "even in good times the City has allocated over 0.2 percent of its budget to this game, much too far from the 0.7 percent claimed by the NGOs for Development (NGO's) and one percent that traditionally come allocating municipalities UI ".
The mayor pointed out that the amount spent on development cooperation projects have been progressively reduced from € 750,000 in 2007 to 18,000 euros this year.
"At the same time, they have been reducing the powers of the Cooperation Council itself, which has no decision-making or anything, just get information, or participatory, have disappeared because of the same major and most serious development organizations belonging the coordinator of NGO's, who thus ended up paying his criticism in this area.
