The mayor Juan Patricio Castro defended in plenary this initiative for people who are faring worse, families without jobs and income and obligations to their dependents, victims of a speculative system in which they always win, banks
Socialist Party councilor Juan Patricio Castro defends a motion in Parliament on Thursday asking the local government that encourages ethical conduct of banks canceling any type of financial activity and commercial banks to evict public housing of Murcia.
"We understand that the City should recommend to the entities with which it works that do not carry out evictions as an ultimate goal," says Castro, who notes that in the event that this recommendation was not taken into account when local government is cancel or penalize banking business with that entity.
"The house always wins and we can not spoiling him," said the mayor's strong PSOE, who states that "the local government has to defend the thousands of people are faring worse, families without jobs and income and obligations as they office. "
Data devastating
In this sense, Castro recalled that the CARM, according to a report from Caritas, ranked fourth in the poorest regions of Spain, 29.2 percent and that 22% of Spanish households is below the threshold poverty.
As for the evictions, the PSOE councilor refers to a devastating data extracted from the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).
The numbers of foreclosures have increased considerably in Spain, particularly in Murcia, where in 2010 reached an alarming rate of 2139.8% over 2009, and during the first quarter of 2012, in the region have increased by 45% over the same period last year, while in Spain is 18.5%.
Based on these figures, says Castro is clear that Murcia is being hit hard by the crisis and that there are many families who are having a hard, driven from their homes because they can not pay common victims of a speculative system that punishes those who have no fault to continue rewarding the main causes of this crisis.
Encourage ethical behavior
"The PP should force this behavior to the banks for social responsibility", defends Castro, adding that, at present, any government should take this attitude to encourage more ethical behavior by banks, and if they do not respond, we must apply stronger measures, such as cancellation of financial activity and commercial entities that continue to act unethically "
